Creative options for Goal Tracking

When setting new health or lifestyle goals, you should consider how you are going to track your progress and milestones. Tracking your goals helps to remind you of your daily commitment to chipping away at your target, and allows you to plan out how you’ll progress through smaller steps along the way.

There are plenty of options for tracking your goals digitally, a simple search in your app store will reveal several free options that are compatible with your phone and can even be synced up to your fitness watches. If an app isn’t your thing, there are other ways to go about goal tracking that won’t cost you a thing.

Online options

If you want a bare-bones no fuss option, consider making a spreadsheet on either excel or google sheets. There are many templates available for download onto either, and they will allow you to customize the spreadsheet to your specific goals. This option is great for goals with lots of data input, like new workout regimes where you’ll want to record specific measurements such as the number of reps you accomplish or the exact mileage you’re running.

Alternatively, you can try something like Notion. Notion is an online workspace that can let you combine lots of apps, notes, and other information into one central dashboard. Many students use it as a way to track deadlines and take notes, but it can easily be customized to support your goal tracking needs and allow you to import any specific deadlines or data from other sources.

Pen and Paper Options

If you’re more of a pen and paper person, why not give bullet journaling a try. Bullet journaling has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it lends itself to unlimited customization depending on your needs. Bullet journaling begins with bulleted paper journals, and you can track any number of health goals by customizing your own layout.

Bullet journals also let you get a bit creative with your goal tracking. If a more aesthetically pleasing or playful visible layout is what will excite you and encourage your goal habits, then you have more freedom to pursue that in a bullet journal. Try looking into templates or inspiration online and across social media, such as Pinterest, to get an idea for how you’d like to organize your habit tracking. (Color coding and creative layouts are fair game here!)
